Medication Management

Dr. Longson specializes in starting clients on streamlined medication regimens and/or "cleaning up" pre-existing problematic medication regimens started by previous providers.

The medication management goal at Total Wellness Psychiatry is to restore comfort and well being while minimizing unwanted side effects and maximizing client safety.

The decision to take medication for any problem should never been taken lightly. When it comes to psychiatric medication, Dr. Longson's philosophy is Less Is More!

Doesn't it seem like throwing pill after pill at a problem is all the rage nowadays? If one pill causes an unwanted side effect the common default solution is to add another pill to the regimen to treat that side effect. Dr. Longson firmly believes that this approach is not necessary and can cause more harm than good. Most clients can enjoy relief on simplified, streamlined medication regimens - it is simply a matter of finding the right medication for you. Dr. Longson strives to find the minimum number of medications at the lowest possible doses needed to restore function for her clients.

Complementary and alternative modalities can be implemented wherever possible - your body does have what it needs to help itself heal. Dr. Longson seeks to support that natural process, not overpower it with medications that will leave you in a side effect fog.

As a client of Total Wellness Psychiatry, you will be kept informed about your medications - how they work, potential side effects, other options - at all times.
